Don't tell me you can't wear something!

Okay, okay, maybe you can't wear earrings with posts because your ears aren't pierced, or maybe you're allergic to nickel - but those are different circumstances. Don't tell me you can't wear a type of jewelry because it wouldn't look "right" on you! Stop it, stop it right now I say!

If you're rockin' a short, sassy hairstyle you CAN wear long, dangly earrings. I'm serious. I PROMISE you won't look like you have chandeliers hanging from your ears. Unless that's the look you're going for, then I'd say "I love the chandeliers you have hanging from your ears!" There's a mom at my son's school who has the greatest pixie cut and I've seen her wearing big, dramatic earrings and I just want to hug her. I don't really know her, though, so that might be awkward. It looks soooo good! If I had the face shape to carry off a short hairstyle, I would love it, and I'd wear any and all kinds of earrings with that hairstyle because I know they would just POP!

Now on to necklaces. Let's face it - not all of us have swan necks with zero neck/chin fat. You're afraid if you wear a necklace it will draw attention to an area you'd like to avoid? Au contraire madam/mademoiselle. If it's the right LENGTH and the right overall PROPORTION it will only draw attention up - away from your neck and/or chin and make people notice your gorgeous face. Add some sparkle, and you can glow! I've had female friends and family members (I promise I won't say who you are if you're reading this) who mainly just bought earrings from me because they felt self-conscious in necklaces. Then, that fateful day arrived, when they found a length that hit that sweet spot (right around the collarbone and below) and the clouds lifted, angelic voices sang, a flock of doves took flight ... or maybe they just realized they actually liked how they looked in necklaces. Same difference.

When it comes to proportion, if you're a curvier girl, I say go for larger beads and less of the "delicate chain with a small pendant" look, even though those are always still gorgeous. It will just provide more of a "WOW" factor. And, as wonderful and popular as those chunky necklaces are, if you're a diminutive lady I worry when I see you weighted down by a necklace with beads the size of golf balls. Your petite frame can only handle so much bling girlfriend!

Just please remember this - this and pretty much everything on my blog will be my opinion (maybe I should have put this at the beginning?). If I do ever post something that's fact, I'll let you know. For example - FACT - I'm no expert at anything. Except maybe being a smart aleck, and my friends and family can vouch for that as they are usually the helpless bystanders/victims to my "wit".

I'm just here to help people enjoy wearing all the fabulous jewelry that's out there! Speaking of which, have you seen my Etsy store, Heersche Kiss? No? Well, I'll be helpful and provide you with a link: www.etsy.com/shop/jmheersche
